My GGGrandparents were born in Ireland, not yet traced a marriage but all children born in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire. I have the family in 51/61 and 71. This is 1871 living at 12 Curzon Road, Ashton under Lyne: Ann McGladdery abt 1843 Hurst, Lancashire, England Daughter Ashton under Lyne Lancashire James McGladdery abt 1812 Ireland Head Ashton under Lyne Lancashire Jane McGladdery abt 1838 Hurst, Lancashire, England Daughter Ashton under Lyne Lancashire John McGladdery abt 1861 Hurst, Lancashire, England Grandson Ashton under Lyne Lancashire Mary McGladdery abt 1811 Ireland Wife Ashton under Lyne James died in 1873 at the same address. After that, Mary vanishes along with the 2 daughters. I can't find deaths or marriages although the family changed the spelling of the surname constantly...Gladrey/Gladney/Gladsey/Glathers/Glathery/Gladthery. Take your pick! I know there's a chance that Mary and the daughters returned to Ireland after James died but would appreciate a fresh set of eyes (or six!) to see whether anything turns up for them in later years. Maybe someone else can see something I've missed Thanks Lou |
