Could he / would he have had anything to do with the Boar War .. does anyone think ? He was a simple Hairdresser .... and brother Arthur was still at home on 1901 ......... just grasping at straws now !!!!!! Chrissie, lol ! Thats the Father Edward who I was looking for on the 1861 !!!!!! They had sons Alfred and Arthur, who was also a hairdresser !! ... but ALFRED is missing off the 1901 census with them. Children: Arthur 1875, Alfred 1878 and Ethel 1883. Arthur and Ethel are on 1901 ......... Now you got me thinking !!! ..... Yep, thats right, Alfred & Arthur are on 1881 ...... and Alfred, Arthur and Ethel are on 1891 and Arthur and Ethel are on 1901

The Thomas Valentine I found was born 1815, with wife Mary, son James (9mths) .... and although they are living in Barton u Irwell, they are in Winton ??? where ever that is ? Can't imagine why I didn't note the details ... it may have been Haydock that made me think twice. Helen, yours is more likely I think ... being 'Barton' ... and if the image actually says Valentine, then I think that may 'clinch' it for me. Alfred Valentine b 1878. Have Alfred on all the census's with Mum & Dad .... except 1901. Alfred was also a Hairdresser and married my Charlotte Shawcross in 1902 ....... but I can't find him on 1901 .... I have a headache .... :-( and eye strain .... :-( ... and I would really appreciate help to continue the search for Edward Valentine on 1861 Alfred Valentine on 1901 Fanx ..:-) .... just going to get Para for head ! Have lost a son who was born 1878 Eccles...... he's NOT at home with his parents on 1901. He didn't marry until July 1902.
