Hi Em, Sorry for any misunderstandings I may have caused. I have a huge request ... which you may or may not be able to help with ... and I will understand if you can't. I would like the names of any/all possible Orphanages in the Cheshire and Manchester area's around 1910/11. I know my Grandfather and siblings were in an Orphanage 1910 ... but assumed it would be Manchester. Now I'm being told it COULD have been Hyde in Cheshire or somewhere in Cheshire. If the list is TOO long or you haven't got time etc, maybe you could tell me where to get your 'list' from and I will obtain a copy for myself. Thanks in advance Elaine ;-) |

Hi Elaine, I am on to it now... would love to give you a list, but my info is spread over various and many resources, collected over the years, so i have to do alot of cross referencing and checking... i mean would love to give you my list... am going to sort the cheshire homes out for you now. ;)) one day perhaps i might have time to colate it all together! lol right... onwards... (ps Cheshire is my home county so this should be quite easy!) |

Ok who tried to use the old thread and only when went through all the messages saw you've started a new thread. This is a fantastic offer as I've been searching for a Childrens Home (I think) in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics in 1961/2 for quite some time. Whether it was a Foster Home or Childrens Home I don't know all I know is that they remember it had a donkey called Dobbin. Have tried the various DSS departments for the councils involved but no-one seems to know of a Home in Ashby. So would really appreciate it if you could do a lookup for me. Thank you Julie |

Thanks so much for this offer. My mother was born in Broadstairs 1924 at the Vale Duffryn (not quite sure of the spelling of the last word) Maternity Home. Have googled it but can find nothing. I wonder if there is a slight chance you may have it listed? With many thanks. |
