Merry the majority of my family were from Holbeck in Leeds so that is a possibility for a birth, I do know this side of the family ended up in Bradford so thank you again and also thanks to Jess and Zoe

The trouble is,. what's the chances of faffing about with the 1881 entries for Rodgers, only to get the marriage cert and find that she was enumerated as Rogers on the earlier census records?? there is a Clara Rodgers born 1868 Leeds in 1871 census - so if theres no matching one on 1881 I would imagine shes been mistranscribed.

Well Jess she does state in 2 census that she was born in 1868 and I think there are 3 or 4 of them in the 1881 census. The census states Leeds as Birthplace but Sheffield and Leeds are close. Yes Merry thats her marriage cert details. Zoe

Yes Jess that is kind of it I am going to order the cert next week but like to do a little research before I get it so I can discount all the ones that are not needed. I know she is a Rodgers as she married in 1885 and it has been toldto me by our family. Zoe

All confusing I know SORRY it seems no Clara Ellen Rodgers was born in Leeds as it states is her bp in the census the only ones I can find in 1881 are born Sheffield still quite close to Leeds I suppose. Would be grateful for ANY help Zoe
