Well, that's STRANGE!!! Whoever did delete it wasn't fast enough - I had just finished reading it when it disappeared. Maybe GR are getting fussy about what we say? Kath. x

Kath, NO ... I haven't deleted. Where's it gone ? Maybe one of my 'past' ancestors saw it and decided THEY didn't want the info on the boards ! .......spooky ! Seriously, I haven't deleted it ..... Elaine ;-0 PS. My family don't come online !

I must admit the older members of our family can't quite understand why I would want to 'advertise' the fact that there were a lot of illegitimate births in the family. I can't see the point of worrying about what you can't change, but there are still some family members who would rather I hadn't started on this hobby, lol. Kath. x - Elaine, have you deleted your last post so you don't upset the family, lol.

There is an Elizah Palin on the 1861 census in Sandbach, Cheshire, who could be Elijah mistranscribed. Kath. x

Hi Elaine, I didn't recognise you from your board name. Just wanted to say you are very lucky if this is the first one you've found to 'bring the Shawcross name into disrepute', lol. I think I must be about the first person in my long line of ancestors who actually got married before getting pregnant !!!!! They all seem to either have kids or have one on the way before getting married. Kath. x

Hi Tracy,. Just came to report the Marriage AND Death in March 1870 Congleton (aged 37) ............... but I see you beat me too it ! I'm just checking him out on the 1861 .... see what occupation he did ... I'm betting Farmer ... but ... oh well , wonder if she knocked him off for hs money .. to support the illigitimate kids she keeps having ! Wonder if she has a Palin child on the 1881 !! The mind boggles ... I can't believe she has brought the Shawcross name into disrepute ! having children whilst unmarried ..its unheard of !!! lol ! (Her Mother was Ellen Shawcross) Elaine ;-)

NOT at all sure where these other children are popping up from !!! thnk she must have had a part time job as a baby machine !! Thankyou ... I'll do some more digging ! Elaine ;-)

Hi Elaine Was thinking along the the same lines as you Elaine!!........entry from Cheshire Marriage Index..... FORREST Harriet PALIN Elijah Congleton, Civil Marriage Cheshire East 1870 Sarah :)

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 17 Nov 2005 11:45

Not sure if this one is connected, but there is a Harriet Palin in the 1871 census, with a son and daughter with the surname Forrest, (although not the names you mention). They are living in Church Hulme, Cheshire. There is also this marriage:- Name: FORREST, Harriet Record Type: Marriages Quarter: March Year: 1870 District: Congleton County: Cheshire Staffordshire Volume: 8a Page: 350 There are three female names transcribed on the page but only one male - Elijah Palin, so not sure about this, but is a possibility.
