Thanks Penelope Jeanette I was thinking the same thing myself he probably did as alot of the men in my family tree have done just that they lose a wife then need another asap. Oh well leaves more info for me if they did. Thanks both of you you are fantastic Zoe

I will go back and take a look at the actual image of the 61 - as there is a considerable age diffrence between the Charlottes on the 61 anad 71. Pen x

I suppose wwe can presume Charlotte is born in 59 or she would not have been in the 1861 census all the others match and probably for the say he called his wife by a different name-hehe as I found a death for Sarah Ann Birkenshaw in 1893 Holbeck age 60 so c1833 and he married Eliza in 1894. My ancestors on every part of my tree have a habit of changing names as they wish. Thanks again Zoe x

Yep, I took a look at the 71 and then the 61 just to see that it had been transcribed correctly and it is what it is. Maybe they liked the name Charlotte. I had one load of ancestors that had all mixed up names and ages..Knew it was them though...unusual surname and still at the same addy, lol. Oh well, best of luck Penelope X

Its a possibility considering that Thoma is also from the same place I will keep it and when I can get the cert to confirm his father, Thanks Jeanette and Pen you have both been a great help. Zoe X
