Lib, thanks for all the info! it does start to get a bit confusing!! i too think mary mother was one of jane's sisters, who married a fletcher! but also like you have said, mary could have been samuel willmotts child!! i think i will have to go and get Mary's birth certificate!!! Would you be able to send me the 1851 image for the wilmotts? also you sent me mary fletcher in 1881, but the image was not too good! i can't read it!! would you be able to resend it?? Alison here is the Wilmot family in 1851: I wonder if Mary Fletcher is the daughter of either Sarah or Mary Wilmot that appear in 1851, she could also be illegitimate and her father chose to be present at her birth registration, thereby she was legally named Fletcher........She could also be the daughter of a sibling not showing with the parents in 1851,also Is it possible that Mary is Samuel Wilmot's illegitimate daughter ???......................just a few thoughts! 1851: Head is a Carpenter. Yeah!! that is the family!! In 1871 the head is James Wilmott aged 68, born in worsley and he is a widow, the the other person is jane wilmott, daughter, aged 28. then Mary fletcher is with them in '71 she is down as a lodger, but is actually Jane's neice!!

I have an 1871 census, where James wilmott is the head, aged 64. his daughter is jane aged 28. then there is a Mary fletcher with them as a lodger, aged 13, all born in worsley, this is 1871, so i was just trying to locate them in 1861. From 1871 onwards i have mary living with Jane wilmot, i got mary's marriage cert today and it says her father is samuel fletcher but at the date of marriage he is deasesed.

Hello! I'm looking for a Mary Fletcher in 1861, she would be aged around 3 years old, her father is called Samuel, but she could possibly be living with a family called Wilmott. Mary was born in swinton/worsley. I think she would be living in Swinton. Thanks, Alison
