Merry I believe you found the birth of another possable daughter. She was also buried in The City of London at the age of 7 months She was buried 3/03/1919 Another card my Dad had at home. I think i will order her birth certificate and see what it comes up with. My Dad thinks that his grandparents came from Ireland, his Mum and Dad were born somewhere in London. What makes him think this is that they both spoke with a London accent. Thank you so much. Michelle.

Nell Only just managed to get back on, had a new drive installed on puter. On funeral card City of London Cemetary Little Ilford. Grave No; 64529 Helen Doyle Saturday April 16th 1911 11 months 11.30 I cannot get to cemetary to view their records as i have 3 kids under age of 6. Have asked about them searching for me, but they want £35.00 to do this. I have managed to find out that she was buried in a paupers grave though. Regards Michelle.

Might your dad's parents have married in Ireland? Merry

Just as additional info......From 1911 Q2 the mother's maiden name is included in the birth indices......Up to 1920 Family Relatives is fully indexed. This is the only birth with the right surnames between those dates: No Surname Forename Mothers maiden name District Page No Event Quarter Year 1 Doyle Kathleen Breen London City.1c 20 Birth 2 1918 and this is the only marriage 1912-1920 (the time frame with both surnames indexed together and available on Family Relatives). I don't think this is the right marriage, suggesting they perhaps married before 1912? No Surname Forename(s) Spouse District Page No Event Quarter Year 1 Doyle James P Breen Bridgend.11a 2212 Marriage 3 1919 Merry

Michelle Can you write down exactly what is on the funeral card for us? Is it possible that this is not a child of Ellen Breen & James Doyle, but maybe a niece of James, or perhaps a much younger sister or cousin? nell

Michelle If your dad wasn't born until 1935, and the funeral card you have found is for his sister, died 1911, then your grandmother must have been getting on a bit when she had him! I think you might find it easier to look for the death of the 1911 child, as you have the date from the funeral card. The death cert will give you both parents' names which will tell you exactly who she was. nell

Michelle is the daughters name on the funeral card? These are the only James Alfred Doyle's listed on freeBMD. But he may have been born in Ireland with a Doyle surname. Births Jun 1885 Doyle James Alfred Llanrwst 11b 357 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Dec 1892 Doyle James Alfred Holborn 1b 725 Georgina.

This marriage is probably too late for Ancestry and FreeBMD. You will need to look at 1837online, but it could be quite expensive as you are not sure when the marriage took place. It would be better to go to a large library or record office and search through the marriage indexes there, starting at 1910 ish. This won't cost you anything but time and patience, and if they married it will be there. Good luck Kath. x p.s. Does the funeral card for the daughter have the name Breen or Doyle on it (this will help with whether you should start looking before or after 1911)

This is a really big ask i know, but i cannot find anything anywhere. Let me explain. My Dad has a funeral card that his Mum kept. We cannot be sure but we think it is for a daughter that his mum lost in 1911. She (the daughter) is buried in The City of London Cemetery. I have been using the above date and area for a reference to find my Grandparents marriage. Their next child wasn't born until about 1917. I have searched freebmd and ancestry and cannot find anything. (Maybe i can't see for looking.) My Dad doesn't know then his parents married or indeed even if they did as he did not come along until 1935. Most of my Dad's siblings have passed away and the one's that are still alive think that i am wasting my time and money. So no help there, i'm afraid. I am looking for Ellen Breen I can remember my Mum saying something about her name not being Ellen, but cannot remember what Mum said her name actually was. Mum has passed away, so i can't ask her now. James Alfred Doyle One of dad's brother said that his name was James Partrick, but it has James Alfred on Dad's birth certificate. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.
