Alison - just joined. Have a database of Thurnham inhabitants including Beckets - here is my info: dau Anne b.1829, Thurnham, unmarried dress-maker at the Wheatsheaf in Garstang in 1851 (rootschat), John b.1801 first married an Anne, then ? a Jane Simpson; gardener, d. 1837?, Mary dau b.1832, unmarried house servant in 1851 (rootschat), Thomas b. 1836 d. 4 months later, William b.1830, un-married gardener at Thurnham Hall in 1841-51 (rootschat) - all these were Roman Catholics and buried at St. Thomas and Elizabeth RC Church, Thurnham. A Thomas lived in Thurnham, m. ?Alis who d.1619, buried at St. Michael's Cockerham, ?related to a Randall Becket d.1604, also buried at St. Michael's Cockerham, ?had relatives in Cockerham. I wonder if anyone could give me some advice as to where to go next as I seem to have come to a grinding halt. I have traced my family back to my GGG Grandfather - John Becket(t) - He was married in Cockerham, Lancashire in 1828 (to Jane Simpson). I cant find any trace of him on any census and wonder if I will be able to find his place of age or birth from the parish record of his marriage? Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks Ali.
