Is this Miles in 1851? Gibson Walton abt 1847 Middleton, Durham, England Son Middleton Durham Joseph Walton abt 1849 Middleton, Durham, England Son Middleton Durham John Walton abt 1839 Middleton, Durham, England Son Middleton Durham Mary Walton abt 1820 Forest, Durham, England Wife Middleton Durham Mary Walton abt 1842 Middleton, Durham, England Daughter Middleton Durham >>>>>Miles Walton abt 1816 Middleton, Durham, England Head Middleton Durham William Walton abt 1844 Middleton, Durham, England Son Middleton Durham Address is Hudigate? in Middleton, Durham and Miles is a Lead Miner. For pre 1841 details, if you can find the baptism record of one of the children, this should have the father's occupation and address recorded. Sam x

Going back to William Walton and Elizabeth Brown..working on the principle that most folk got married in the Bride's parish and usually around the age of 20, could thisbe the baptism of Elizabeth? If so, looks like Miles was named after her father.... If that is the baptism for Elizabeth, then could this be William and Elizabeth in 1851? Ann Rutter abt 1835 Barnard Castle, Durham, England Servant Trimdon Durham Elizabeth Walton abt 1786 Trimdon, Durham, England Wife Trimdon Durham William Walton abt 1785 Cockfield, Durham, England Head Trimdon Durham William Walton abt 1823 Trimdon, Durham, England Son Trimdon Durham Address is just Trimdon, Durham and William's occupation is 'Farmer of Glebe Farm'. If that is the right one, Williams place of birth is Cockfield. Problem is that the LDS site has at least 3 William Walton's born in Cockfield, in 1783, 1784 and in 1785. Any one could be 'yours'. Yes that must be William as sons William and John farmers .Apparently Miles gambled the family fortune and they lost the lot becoming farm hands instead but retaining some properties. This was just what I was looking for ! Thanks so much. Your a star! Angela x

That is definately them. I'm beginning to think Miles referrs only to Miles Brown Elizabeths father ,He is probably a farmer to.There is no Miles Walton.William seems to have lost the farm as by 1881 he's a farm labourer! Angela x

Hi Angela There is a Miles Brown living in Trimdon in 1851 and his occupation is Land Proprietor. However he seems a bit young to be Elizabeth's father as he was born c1788. Could he be her brother? Sam x

Exellent ,This all makes sense now ,he was her brother and not Williams. There must be another farm that he owned and lost, Is there anything about his family ?wife or children? Much appreciate all this Angela x

Sam

Sam Report 3 Jan 2006 22:34

Sorry, I forgot to put details of his wife and child! Ann Brown abt 1799 Ollar, Durham, England Wife Trimdon Durham Ann Brown abt 1838 Heseldon, Durham, England Daughter Miles Brown abt 1788 Trimdon, Durham, England Head Trimdon Durham There is no address given, other than Trimdon. In 1861 he is living alone in Trimdon described as a retired farmer. Maybe if you can find someone with access to 1841 Durham census, they will be able to find him with more children. Sam x

have feeling there will be no others as his descendents would have inherited instead of it going to the other side of family as it did.what remained that is! You've been a fantastic help my mum will be thrilled this has intrigued her and sisters for years! Kind regards Angela x
