9 DUNCAN STREET 1871 PETER HANSON 27 MARINER CATHERINE 25 WIFE CHRISTINA MC LEOD 23 LODGER CHRISTINA MC LEOD 3WEEKS JESSIE MC ALLISTER 50 ROBERT THOMPSON 29 ELLEN 30 JANET LYONS THOMPSON 2 MTHS HAVE LOOKED AT ALL THE STREET BUT NO ONE OF THAT NAME THERE.

Thanks Ladies for all your efforts, this is driving me maddddddddd. I have the birth cert June 1870 for Mary Ellen Nagle father Richard Mother Ellen 9 Duncan St off St James St Liverpool. no trace of the family anywhere 1871 1881. Mother Ellen remarried 1881 to a Charles Nagelberg no connection just coinsidence there names are alike hes German. Daughter Ellen married Thomas Benson 1888 address for both 103 St James St right by Duncan St, so they did not move far. 2 other children of Richard & Ellen are Florence b 1869 Lpool and Sarah b 1875 Lpool, Richard is dead by 1881 for Ellen to remarry, but no trace of her as a Nagle or Nagelberg in 1881. No trace of any of them in 1871, i have them 1891 onwards. Isobel if your still up would you mind looking at 103 St James St 1871, i doubt they will be there but you never know. Colette I don't want to besmirch the reputation of your ancestor, but I have found that a conveniently 'deceased' father sometimes never existed - at least not as a husband to the mother. I still think you best option is to get the cert for the marriage to Charles.....you will learn her maiden name, and father's name and occupation. How old would the parents be in 1871 please Colette ? Just to narrow search down abit. Have just looked for daughter Mary Ellen b 1870 .... no results ........so, me thinks that the name has been mistranscribed ... BADLY as something totally out of this world ! .................. Sorry, nothing is coming up at all ... for any similar variation. Maybe the Name Index isn't complete ?

Hi all i have not found the marriage for Richard & Ellen, i have Mary Ellens birth cert June 1870 9 Duncan St Liverpool father Richard Nagle Rigger of 9 Duncan St registered the birth. Ellens maiden name is on the cert it looks like Cregan or Gregan That could be Richards Death you found, as there last child Sarah was b 1875. having trouble finding Ellen Gregan/Cregan b 1853 Liverpool on the 1861 now things couldnt get any worse. Its possible Ellen and daughters were out of Liverpool maybe in Ireland in 1871 & 1881 she married Dec 1881 to Charles NAGELBERG SO WAS BACK BY THEN. Gone through every Ellen b 1853 Lpool every Florence b 1869 Lpool every Mary Ellen or Ellen b 1870 Lpool and every Sarah b 1875 Lpool. cannot find any of them do not know when Richard was born or where. Well collete Im sorry but I cant make head or tails of te whole thing. I cant find any of the births or marriages on the FreeBMD. I cant even find Ellen married to charles nagelberg on the 1881 census!!!!.....lol. You certainly seem to have a lot of info but Im not sure where you are getting it all from? Suzanne P.S. on the birt cert you have does it have mother as nagle 'formerly gregan'? that at least would suggest that the parents were in deed married.

Hi Suzanne Charles Nagelberg & Ellens marriage is on Free BMD Dec 1881. He was a Mariner b Germany, it could be a case of mistranscription as i have just helped someone find two birth registrations they have been looking for for ages CARRIER was the surname and they were down as Carahe and Car-ah so anything is possible. I have some credits for 1837 and have searched 1868-9 for the Nagle marriage of Richard & Ellen so i am going further back now but she would be 15ish in 1868 so i dont know maybe i should be going forwards To be honest i dont know where i am going with this mess haaaaaaaaaaaa Colette xx

Hi Alice no i dont have the marriage cert as i only found this information a couple of days ago. I have just found Ellen & Richards daughter Florence's birth reg. 1837 Online Catherine Florence Nagle Liverpool July-Sept 1868. Plus i have just found Catherine Nagle on the 1881 as a 12 yr old Nursemaid Domestic living in Waterloo Great Crosby , and another domestic in the the house was Kate Gregan aged 25 b Liverpool Cook Domestic. Its starting to come together as Catherine Florence Nagles mum, was a Gregan before her marriage. So could Kate be a sister of Ellen and be also called Catherine. Catherine Florence Nagle only uses Florence in 1891, 1901 & marriage to Joseph Green 1892 Liverpool, no mention of a Catherine, just shows you. Cannot find an Ellen Gregan b Lpool 1853-4 or a Kate/Catherine Gregan b Lpool 1855-6 on the 1851. Colette
