Portsmouth Records Office--anyone want a look up.N

i'll be going to the records office sometime in the next week so if anyone wants a look up let me know. it might be better to email me incase i forget to look on here. i'm not sure what day i'll be going but sometime within the next 7 days, Karen UPDATE 20/1. my dad was taken ill last night so i'm not sure when i'll get to the RO,but i will get there and get back to you all with what i've found, Karen |

Hello Dont know if you can help but I am hoping to find out who the parents are of the following to confirm they are mine! Daisy Ellen Dobbs B.1890 4th quarter portsea Elizabeth Jessie Dobbs B. 1892 4th quarter portsea Any help would be great. Also if you live that way do you know if River Street still exists I know quite a few of my lot were there late 1890s-1900s just wondered if it is still there? Many thanks Michele |

Hi Karen I will get back to Portsmouth one day, though probably not until I retire! To whet my appetite, do you know whether the Record Office has a good run of school records, in particular Flying Bull Lane Primary in the 1920s? I don't want a look up done, as I suspect several cousins only I would recognise would creep out of the woodwork, but it would be nice to have something to look forwards to researching. Michelle, will look for the births/parents and yes River St is still there but i think most of the houses have changed since the 60's.i have some rellies that were in River St in the 1870's but i haven't been to look but i will go,let me know a number and if its there i'll take a photo. Phoenix, i don't know what school records they hold but i'll find out for you Karen |

Karen What can I say what a lovely offer thank you so much, the number I'm after is 118. I dont wish to push your kindness to far but do you know if Heidelberg Road Southsea still exists?Its another one where my lot lived. I have only recently discovered they moved into portsmouth/southsea as they had stayed around south harting so its all so exciting that you are able to tell me if these roads are still around. Hi Karen Once again thank you sooo much the number in heidelberg rd is 34. This is all so strange finding these connections with portsmouth/southsea that I didnt know about. I was actually born in Copnor and lived in Cowplain until about 19yrs ago. Unfortunately I dont really have cause to travel back that way but I guess all this research might tempt me back! i'm now not taking anymore look ups. as you know my Dad was taken ill last week and although he's much better he can't go back to work yet,as he works for my husband i will be going in for the time being to take his place. anyway i will do look ups for eveyone thats asked asap and i will get back to you all, thanks for your patience Karen |
