Well I'll check the North Shields parish registers tomorrow. Fingers crossed I'll find them! Thanks again for all your help. |

just had a quick look at the marriages on the Durham site & couldn't find anything fitting Rogers/Rodgers in the 1850's so you are probably looking at Northumberland... it wasn't in the Newcastle on-line indexes either though! (They really only cover central areas around Newcastle, my Cramlington ones aren't in there) Wonder if we are talking about one that didn't quite make the GRO? |

Oh definitely! I just hope I do eventually find the marriage in the parish registers here, but I'm beginning to think perhaps they married in Durham. If they did... well I'm not going to be able to find anything at all! |

The others I checked out for 1861 don't look v. likely. Looks like you have to keep an open mind about the Rogers/Rodgers spelling then! |

It looks like that is the family in 1861! Thank you. So they married between 1851 and 1854 and Mary is from Percy Mryne, where ever that is! Thank you all so much you have no idea how much time you have saved me! |

Ah those 1851 census returns do match the baptism I found! Robert son of John and Jane, John listed as a Butcher in the baptism :) Thats wonderful, so I know he married after 1851. |

I have to say I don't, it wasn't given to me! As I say I've been asked to find a marriage in the parish records and the information I have is quite scant! I've just checked the 1881 census and he's listed as Robert Rodgers so perhaps I've been looking for the wrong person! But this is the family in 1881 Robert RODGERS Head M Male 50 Bedlington, Northumberland, England Coal Miner Mary RODGERS Wife M Female 49 Wallsend, Northumberland, England William RODGERS Son U Male 24 Lanchester, Durham, England Coal Miner Thomas RODGERS Son Male 16 Lanchester, Durham, England Coal Miner Robert RODGERS Son Male 8 Lanchester, Durham, England Scholar I do have a baptism in Bedlington parish chruch in 1831 for a Robert Rogers so looks like I need to look under several spellings! |

I need another lookup to help me with lookups I'm trying to do. Need to narrow down the time frame otherwise I've got about 20 years of parish records to trawl through for several different parishes! I'm looking for Robert Rogers b 1831 in Bedlington, Northumberland. At some point he marries Mary b abt 1832 in Wallsend. If anyone can find Robert in the 1851 and 1861 census returns and let me know if he's married and where he's living it would help me enourmously! Thank you! |
