Find Ancestors

Still searching and not getting any further with this one Struggling to find marriage for Henry Fellows 1849 Birmingham and Emma born 1849 Sheffield. Also no sign of registered births for any of the children, Looked in Freebmd, Ancestry BMD, family relatives and IGI Where can I go with this one - HELP

No diffrerent family in Kimberworth, already tried that one and it isn't them - wish it was so I could wrap this one up and go onto another family. If I had started this 8 months ago my own Mum could have probably helped but I lost my Mum last June and that is what set me going on the family tree when I found a death cert for Annie Elizabeth Fellows (nee Rowbotham ) who married Henry junior (born Birmingham 1849) in 1897

Henry's occupation is Tin plate worker or Tinner as it says on his son's marriage cert. Henry the son born in 1876 married Annie Elizabeth Rowbotham in 1897 that is were I got his fathers name from ( Henry ) and then searched the census records and found them in 1901 and 1891 but alas no joy before this except for Henry the father in the workhouse Possible is that Emma the wife wasn't the wife until later and his first three chidren are with someone else ( Charlotte, Frank and Henry ) and he left Birmingham and them with rellies and came to Sheffield ended up up in the workhouse in 1881 and after this met Emma and brought his other children up from Birmingham - wild guess!!

Have you searched all the Births and Marriages on Ancestry ? ... they are complete (like 1837online) FreeBMD isn't complete - far from it, especially around 1845 - 1880 .... worth checking the BMD's on Ancestry. Searched from 1870 up to 1880 Freebmd is on a go slow at the moment, Begining to wonder if the oldest child Henry is not Emma's son as he is the one born in Birmingham and the rest are Sheffield the same as Emma the mother!

OK, Chances are they married in Sheffield area. BUT bear in mind the first child was born Birmingham.. The oldest child known about so far, was born 1874, then Charlotte in 1879 .... so a search should be made from 1871 - 1881 for a possible marriage. What years have you searched under please ? Yes got the father in the workhouse on his own in 1881, does say he is married though. It is more than likely him as place of birth and year of birth and even the occupation is the same as on other census's and on his oldest son's marraige cert that I have a copy of. Can't find any of them in 1881 except the father

You could search FreeBMD and/or 1837online. They have a child born 1879, but you can't find the child or it's mother on the 1881 .... but you do think you have found the father on '81 ... yes ? Elaine ;-)

No different family In 1881 Henry the father is on his own in Sheffield workhouse and no trace of the rest of them, however they are all together in 1891 and 1901. Can't even find the marriage of Henry born 1849 in Birmingham and Emma 1849 in Sheffield

can you post the 1891 census that you believe to be the correct family please

I was hoping that someone may have access to other sites that I don't and which may show the maiden name - have tried ancestry and IGI and can't think what else to do, could be a lot of waste sending cert's that I'm not even 50% certain are the right people,

Trying to find the maiden name of my great great grandmother Emma born 1849 in Sheffield - married Henry Fellows from Birmingham Children are Charlotte born 1879 in Sheffield, possible on Vol 6d page 299 Thomas born Sheffield 1885, possible on Vol 9c page 240 George Arthur also Sheffield 1890, possible vol 9c page 278 and Henry born 1876c but born Birmingham?? not same as Emma who shows as his mother on the 1891 census. Any help appreciated to stop me going down the wrong trees or having to send for pot luck birth certs Thanks Joanne
