Hi Colette, no it doesnt feel like the 3rd degree, its hard to understand if youre not me, my hubby after 11 years is still trying!! Kath got it right it is judith thats my birth mother & Pat adopted mother, but will put on info anyway, I think that James & Lesley are brothers, but lesleys wife put on Judiths birth cert mothers MN: Wright, this could be a mistake or the fact that she was marrying Les anyway, I'm not sure, Judith has 2 brothers Steven & philip, I know steven is the eldest but dont know about Philip, Judy died in 1st qtr of 2004 in Whitby with the name of Judith A Gilling of 18 Queens parade, husband Keith M Gilling, Patricia is still alive but has cancer so its not really appropriate for me to ask any questions, would be a bit disrespectful I think! Judith would have been born possibly in the same location as Patricia as they lived quite local. Thanks.

It's the other way round Collette. Judith is the birth mother - recently deceased. Patricia is the adoptive mother - still living. Kath. x

Hi Louise alot of confusion going on... We have Lesley Wright & Wife Vera = daughter Judith your birth mother. We have James Edward Wright & Kathleen =daughter Patricia your adoptive mother. Lesley & James Edward are brothers Yes?? Judith may have fell pregnant very young and Patricia may have been married and settled so adopted her from Judith. Are Patricia & Judith still living and have they explained all of what happened to you. We need some time scale in order to help you further, do you have any idea when Judith was born and is it the same location as Patricia. Did James Edward Wright have other children and did Lesley Wright also have other children if yes what were there names. Were these children older than Judith & Patricia, sorry for the 3rd degree but if we can find the marriages of these two men we can then find there wifes maiden names which is what you are looking for... Kindest Regards Colette in Southport xx

Is it possible to cross reference.

Louise

Louise Report 9 Feb 2006 00:34

its rather difficult because my birth grandparents are lesley & ver a wright & my adopted Grandparents are James Edward wright & Kathleen wright, judith (my real mum was les & veras daughter) & Patricia Wright was my adopted mum James & kathleens daughter , my mum & adopted mum were cousins, but I thought my real grandmothers MN was Houseman but no-one can find anything for this, hope I havent confused you, Louise.

What you need to do then, is find a possible marriage under yopur grandad's name and then cross reference against the surname of the spouse .... see if there is an entry with your Grans name. Do you know the Grandparents names .... and if so, have you ANY idea at all when or where they MAY have married ? Elaine ;-) Have got your grandparents names from above ...... do you THINK your Mum was born soon after the marriage or not ? I would search the marriage indexes for James E Wright, .... start in 1938 and work back every qtr until you find a 'possible. Then check the same qtr/year under the spouse's surname to see if it was Kathleen. This then SHOULD be listed as MMN for your Mum's birth entry under Wright.

however the birth I was trying to find in the first place was that of my adopted mum, see top of list, thanks.

my mothers maiden name was definately Wright, then ellis by marriage, then irving, then Gilling, I have all proof of this, so what I am actually trying to find out is was her mother wright by birth or by marriage.

either womans ? .... but I'm wondering if you are thinking that your Mum's mn was NOT Wright ?

Louise

Louise Report 8 Feb 2006 23:57

which womans mn?

Unknown

Unknown Report 8 Feb 2006 23:55

Her marriage cert will give her actual maiden name .... have you got that ? Elaine ;-)

Louise Report 8 Feb 2006 23:50

I know I had this problem, but someone found a birth for judith in 1944 with MMN as Wright, so this may come from the confusion of who is who's sister, it could be that my mums mum was wright & it was her maiden name, not her husbands name as I thought.

Have looked at births in all quarters of 1936/7/8/9/40 and can't find a Patricia Wright with mother's maiden name Houseman. Kath. x

To my knowledge I think Kathleens MMN was Houseman, & Patricicia didnt have a middle name, Thanks.

Any middle name for Patricia? Do you know Kathleen's maiden name? There will be more than one Patricia so if you could narrow it down it would help Sam

If Wright is her birth name she will be in the GRO birth indexes. nell

I cannot trace my mothers birth at all, any ideas, Patricia Wright, born to james edward wright & kathleen wright, around 1938 ish, would have been Don valley I think, they lived in Thurnscoe so i'm supposing this is the right area, as my others come up as this, hope its not the same again, an adoption, Many, many, Thanks to anyone.
