What are the particular peoples details, name age, who with and which Cenus are you mainly interested in? Carrie

ErikaH Report 8 Feb 2006 11:07

The decoder only works with the official PRO site for 1901 census. Google census decoder and follow the instructions. You won't find out from the census where people worked. The census only records the occupation.........not where they were employed, unless they worked on an estate, and lived there. Reg

Carrie

Carrie Report 8 Feb 2006 10:30

Tracey Q2, have you tried www(.)familysearch(.)org its the only one to help. Q1, If you know the full name, age and area they were born it may not be as hard as you think, why not let us try. Carrie

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 8 Feb 2006 10:28

Ancestry is offering 1881 and 1901 free at present 1881 is permanently free on www.familysearch.org 1901 can be searched on the PRO site.....if you download the free decoder, you can group together all people of same surname who appear on the same census page. Reg

Jeanette

Jeanette Report 8 Feb 2006 10:27

you can see for free 1881 on www.familysearch.org and 1881 also on ancestry and also 1901. Or ask on here if you have got details Jeanette it would be best then on family search for 1881 as it showes address and occ then come on here for other census look ups
