i would like to know who eliza ryder's parents were she was born in 1843 in ringmore devon and married issac foot (B) 1843 at horrabridge devon. issac foot and eliza ryder are the grandparents of michael foot (B)1913, hugh mackintosh foot who later became lord caradon and govenor of cyprus, dingle makintosh foot (b) 1905. if anyone can look up on the 1851 census and any other census would be very much appreciated. teresa |

There are 51 Ryders born in Ringmore on the 1851 census. Several males about the right age to be Eliza's father. Sue |

This may not be the right one but on the IGI an Arthur Ryder married Eliz. FARLEY 31 AUG 1798 Ringmore By Kingsbridge, Devon, England. The IGI doesn't have much later information for Ringmore Could these perhaps be the parents of James and of the father of Eliza? Sue |

hi again, sorry for being a pain but could you look at a 1821 and 1831 census to see if james ryder had a brother called thomas ryder. james was (b) abt 1813. |

The 41 is the earliest census. After that it's trawling through parish records! Sue |

I saw that Kingsbridge birth and discounted it, as Eliza Jane is on the census in Kingsbridge reg district in 1851 and was born in Loddiswell. nell |

I can't get the 1861 but perhaps someone has access. My Devon disc of the 1851 says Eliza was born in Ringmore. That Kingsbridge District registration is the March quarter of 1844 if you want to risk £7 and order it. Sue |

i have looked at the info i have had in the past of some possibilities. could someone find out if a charlotte triggs (B) 1789 in kingston devon married a george ryder and then could it be found out if james ryder (B)1813 in kingston devon was their son and any names of his brothers and sisters. this is probably too much to ask due to their birth years, but any kind of info is very much appreciated. teresa |

Have you looked on the IGI (FamilySearch) ? www.familysearch.org They have lots of Births, Baptism's, Marriages and deaths ... many B4 1837. Devon is well covered. However, I can't get on IGI this morning ... server is down. When its running ... its FREE to search. Elaine ;-) |
