I am the proud owner of a marriage cert. between John Frederick WING and Ann Mellish. The marriage took place in Dec 1851 in Wandsworth. I know nothing about John Frederick Wing except for his father being William Wing (Occupation Lighterman) but Ann was born about 1832 in Wandsworth. The trouble is that I can't see them on any census. Would anyone be kind enough to have a look on any census - I could just be having a massive blonde moment.!!!! Thank-you, Linda

Hi Kate, thank you very much for looking. Yes I saw the John Francis but dismissed him. Is Frederick/Francis concidered the same name? I don't know. There's another GR member with a John Francis Wing registered - didn't get in contact with him because of the 'Francis' thing although the dates fitted. Will do so. Many thanks, Linda

THANKYOU both Kate and Reggie for all your info. That does look like John Wing but unfortunatley it was Ann and any siblings I was trying to trace. She was my gg grandmother's sister. Look's like you're right and that she died between '51 and '61. I wonder if any of the siblings mentioned were Ann's....never occured to my that she died and John re-married....looks like the GRO will be getting some more of my hard earned cash!!!!!!!! Francis and Frederick aren't considered to be the same name... but every rule has its exception!

Linda - sorry about that John Francis; I just didn't read it properly! No, Francis and Frederick are not the same name; it would be Francis and Frank that are.
