Find Ancestors

I have the following family on the 1841 Census and would like to find more information on them: Thomas Kirkham head 55 Jane Kirkham wife 40 (maiden name something like Whitpot) Henry son 15 Arthur son 15 Frederick son 15 Edward son 12 Jane daughter 10 Louis son 6 Richard son 3 Can anybody help by looking up the children's births and also any information regarding the parents would be greatly appreciated. Yes, and No. I think father Thomas died. Son Edward married Mary Ann Dallimore in 1848 and they had their first child in Australia that same year. I think I found mother Jane (1801) with daughter Jane (1833) as lodgers in St Marylebone, but can't find anyone else either in the UK Or Australia. Regards, Lewella

Oh yes, that could be him. The information I have is from the Death Index in Australia for Thomas's son Edward. The name given for his father was Thomas Bullemar Kirkham, mother Jane Hart Whitpot. Given the unusual middle name, perhaps someone was confused and should have put Thomas Henry! Although, the 1841 Census has his age as 55 which doesn't tie in does it? Lewella

No, no. I'm thinking that my Thomas is really Thomas Henry, who is the son of Thomas Bulmar and whoever and that when Thomas Henry's son Edward's death in Australia was recorded, instead of putting his father as Thomas Henry, someone was confused and put Thomas Bullemar instead. Lewella

I understand what your saying about the Thomas born 1807 being yours, which would make sence because on the 1841 census ages are rounded up or down to the nearest 5 years. I cant find a record for Thomas marrying Jane. Georgina.

Georgina, the information regarding Jane also came from the Death Index in Australia for her son Edward. It actually says 'Jane Hart WHITPOT', but who knows. Lewella

Have you tried Bath BMD. It has online births and marriages but no deaths. I found Bathwick births Kirkham Edward 1839 Elizabeth Ann !843 Fanny 1845 Mary Ann 1847 James 1848 Francis 1849 Francis Xavier 1850 Charles 1852 Eliza 1855 Emily also found several marriages including Ann Kirkham Henry Fowler 1844 St. Mary the virgin Bathwick Arthur Anderson Kirkham Emma Winnington 1841 Bath registry office. If you go on-line it will tell you the reference number and how to order the certificates.

Now managed to find via 1861 census that Jane Kirkham was visiting her sister Lucy Anderson in London. Via sister Lucy's marriage, I have established that Jane's maiden name was 'Philpot/Filpot' and not 'Whitpot'. Can any please find the marriage of Thomas Kirkham to Jane Philpot/Filpot.
