Hi. If I explain my problem it may clarify things. William Spink was born 1857. On his birth cert he was given the name William Bromley. The father is shown as William Bromley Spink a shoe maker journeyman. The mothe Caroline Spink was not married to a Wiliam Spink as her proper husband Edward had mover away to London before William was born.. Why did Caroline say the father was a William Bromley Spink when no such person can be found. I was hoping she put down the fathers proper name and added Spink, hence enquiries regarding a possible William Bromley. Dud.

quite a complicated story Dud, hope this has helped in some way, you probably will never know the details but i guess she could have put fathers real name and then added spink so no one at the regestry office asked questions....good luck with that
