I am looking for my great grandad James rawlinson Taylor he was b1888 in Cracoe subdistrict of Grassington , Skipton. His parents are Thomas Taylor and Margaret Rawlinson. Last year i thought i had him on 1901 census in Burnley, But i have been in touch with some one whom had the same details as me. It turns out that her Margaret was not Rawlinson but a Bentham. I know Thomas and Margaret where married in1883 in settle district. Today i have trawled through 1891/1901 census trying to find all 3 together . Im desperate for help as im back to square one and i dont know years of birth for parents only that thomas was a farmer at time of James birth. Help Help Please !!!. Many thanks Tracy in Snowy Clitheroe . My James is not lost any more he is safe and back with me it turns out i was correct with my details thank god i was a bit pushy . lol Tracy

Do you have J R Taylor birth certificate? This looks likely for the marriage reference But you do need that B/C to confirm details -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marriages Sep 1883 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rawlinson Margaret Settle 9a 9 TAYLOR Thomas Settle 9a 9 Sue

Don't automatically presume you are wrong Tracy. I see that two of the children were actually born in 'Bentham'. The other person may not have the correct information. Regards, Lewella

Ive learnt not to be impressed/over awed by people who send you a huge amount of info which doesnt quite make sense. When I first started an american sent me stuff back to the 17th century on one line, I was well chuffed. But when I started looking at it in detail - months and months later, I saw there was a huge error and from 1820 backwards he had traced the wrong line. The guy who he said was my GGFx3 born Richmond (living in Rotherhithe) was still alive and kicking in Richmond when my GGFx3 was marrying and having kids in Rotherhithe. This meant he had latched onto to a fitting IGI record and just followed it back in a completely wrong area. I did write and point this out to him subtley but got back a terse note saying 'I dont think youre right'. This was even though I scanned and sent a marriage cert showing that this chaps father had a different name to the line he was following!

I had spent hours on ancestry after my disapointment of feeling i was wrong but could not find anything else that matched my info, stared at birth cert and marraige cert and thought to myself i dont think im wrong, sent an email to my contact and she replied she had got info of some one else tree as it was her husbands line , she was realy nice and gave me address of the other person , i placed my quries with him and got a delighful email this morning from him saying i was correct and how pleased he is to be in contact. Im not usualy pushy im glad i was. Tracy
