Hi Rosalyn, I have spent about £30 this month alone, it can work out quite expensive if you search and don't find who you are looking for because there are about 10 families with the same surname. Betty

I spent a lot when I started doing my tree but loved printing all the extracts . Rosalyn

Hi Barbara, I wasn't doing this family tree lark until about 6 months ago, I didn't know that about ScotlandsPeople, well at least they do give you a bit longer now!!! Betty

At least Scotland's People site now gives you a week to use credits - when I started using it a couple of years ago you only had 48 hours before they expired! Barbara

Hi evryone, Thanks for your comments on ScotlandsPeople, Debbie there isn't anything to sign, I thinks someone just suggested it would be a good idea to sent a petition to ScotlandsPeople about the problem with price and short time you have to use your credits up. Betty

I agree with a bout the time for using the credits. I have spent the afternoon on there and had to spoend £6.00 so I could use the credits that has expired. The good thing about the site is the listing of the marriage certificates with all the parents names on. Where is this petition to sign?

You should remember on Ancestry or 1837 on line you pay for looking at the code numbers then you have to order the certificates which cost £7 on scotlandspeople after 1855 the certificates are on line then you don't have to do what I did and paid £13.50 for a proper copy so think of it that way and if you can get the right areas and person doesn't cost that much but if you do find it you won't lose it

Ah so you come fro Australia Lewella, One of my husbands uncles went there many years ago on the assisted passage, £10 I think, they came from Yorkshire, I don't know which part of Australia he is in though. Well I am off to bed shortly, it's after 3:30am here in Scotland, been snowing all day too. Best wishes from Betty in Bonnie Dundee Scotland.

LOL, you're right Betty. Damn English! I'm actually 5th generation Australian, so that' how I ended up with 'Lewella'. Don't know what the parents were thinking!!! Lewella xxx

Hi it's me again Lewella, Thats a very unusual christian name you have for someone from Scotland though, even if you surname is Richardson.. I think Scotlandspeople are trying to get as much money as they can from us Scots, because they know full well we don't like parting with it. It must have been some who is not Scottish wo started ScotlandsPeople because it it was someone from Scotland it would only cost about £1 a week. Betty

Lewella Report 4 Mar 2006 03:06

With a maiden name like 'Richardson' can't get much more scottish than that! Okay, let's petition Scotlands People. I'd use the site more if I didn't have to spend so much all the time! Lewella xxx

Hi again Lewella, Spoken like a true Scot. I would prefer ScotlandsPeople gave you a bit longer to use your credits up. It's not all the time you are searching on the computer for relatives. I think they should give you at least a month, also I think they should have special offers, like say six months for £30 or something like that, then you can search all you want. Betty

Lewella Report 4 Mar 2006 02:17

Hi Betty, we all know what the Scots are like with money, lol. What I hate is when you've got credits that have expired and then you have to spend other £6 to reactivate them!!! Lewella x

♥Betty Boo from Dundee♥

♥Betty Boo from Dundee♥ Report 4 Mar 2006 01:43

Hi Lewella, Thats just what I was thinking, when you get 30 credits it may sound a lot but you can use them up in no time at all. When you use at least 6 credits per person you search for, it does mount up. Betty

Lewella

Lewella Report 4 Mar 2006 00:14

I'd like to know that too, Betty. I wish they'd have some annual fee like Ancestry and that you could then just pay for the certificates you wanted on top of that! Lewella x

Hi Everyone, I wonder if someone who searches ScotlandsPeople site can tell me is there any other way to pay other than the £6 for 30 credits. I have been using it a lot recently and notices it had cost quite a bit over the last month. Betty.
