Could any kind person please kindly look-up George Martin b.1830 Wadesmill, Hertford - trying to find his family. Also, looking on 1881 census it has his profession as Gardener (N D) can anyone please explain the N D many many thanks

The only George Martin I see on the 1881 born in Wades Mill is a railway laborer. Am I missing something? Which district of Herts is Wades Mill in? Rose

Looking at image for 1851 which Lesley found, I think his place of birth has been mistranscribed - Thundridge, not Trowbridge. He is servant to William Cooper, who is a miller ??(can't decipher next word)

Lesley, Daughter Alice was born about 1858 in Stoke Newington. It states on 1881 census her father William/George was 55yrs b. Wadesmill. Thanks for all your time & trouble and to everyone else to has replied - I REALLY do appreciate it.

Christine, Yes, found that tonight. I've been looking for a George with no luck & received the 2nd cert today stating name as William. I'm pretty sure that's the right family on 1881 as I know he was a gardener. Obviously I've got the wrong George in Wadesmill. I'm going to have to look again for his birth.
