THANK YOU FOR SEARCHING MY NAN YOU SEE IS DOROTHY ALTHOUGH SHE REMEMBERS BEING CALLED NORAH BY HER MOTHER (WE THINK) SHE HAS ONLY TOLD ME OF HER OTHER 4 SIBLINGS SO IT COULD BE SHE DIDNT KNOW OR INFACT SHE IS FLORENCE???? WE KNEW OF EDITH, ELSIE, GEORGE AND JAMES GEORGE OF WHOM IS DECEASED. I AM AT A LOOSE END WITHOUT GETTING ALL CERTS I WONT KNOW IF THEY HAVE THE SAME PARENTS AT ALL. ALTHOUGH ITS VERY LIKELY ESPECIALLY FOR ALL BORN SOUTHWARK. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ANY ADVICE?

Hi Alexandra, I've searched the birth indexes from 1920 - 1933 and apart from the ones I've already posted there is this one. Sept 1931. Daniel Browning, Dist, Camberwell, Vol 1d, Page 967. MMN PICKET. Camberwell does tie in as place Kate's death was registered. Dec 1933. Kate Browning, age 37, Camberwell, 1d, 814. I make that 6 children not including any born before 1920(if there is any) and not including Dorothy or Norah of which I can find no trace.

Are you sure she only had 4 siblings? So far I found, James as posted above. Sept, 1923. Elsie A. R. Browning, Southwark, 1d, 179. MMN PICKETT. Jun 1921. Florence M. J. Browning, Southwark, 1d, 190. MMN PICKETT. Mar 1920. Edith K. Browning, Southwark, 1d, 284. MMN PICKETT. George B. Browning, Southwark, 1d, 284. MMN PICKETT.

it could be 1926 we have no birth cert so we cannot be sure they told my nan at the home she was sent to her birth was 1925 but could of been year either side. Her mum as said before called her Norah and at the home she became Dorothy.

No easy way to do the search , you just have to methodically plod thru (tiny gap between her and her brother then!)

Yes thats my nans brother is there anyway i can look up all Kate Picketts children without searching all in turn? Any ideas anyone?

My nans mothers maiden name was Pickett (Kate) nan said to of been born 1925 but could be just before or after Southwark area London

Hi My nan Dorothy Browning was never registered (her birth) as far as we know. I have tried to search for the birth incase it was registered as her other 4 siblings were registered. We say her birthday is 24th August 1925 but in fact it may be another date we are pretty sure it was that year through her older siblings as she is the youngest. She was placed in a childrens home in London with her 2 brothers and 2 sisters as her mum died in 1933. She remembers her mother called her Norah but for some reason she now became Dorothy. Does anyone know how if at all i can locate childrens home information and possibly track down her birth registration if there was one? Thanks
