I have his birth cert here, I ordered it to check the spelling of his name as 2 of my cousin have his name as a middle name in his memory but they spell it ELLIS. I did a search as I didn't know what else I could do. |

Great!!! Now they make it even harder for me to find them!! (HAHAHA) Do you have any ideas on how to find them?? I'm not sure what to do now! :) |

Thats a good point, but that means Ellis came back to fight in the war ,would that be possible? Arthur would have only been 14 in 1901 so I don't think he would have gone anywhere without his parents? Ellis would have been 17 so it's possible he went some where. :) |

No I haven't found Ellis in the 1901 census but I know he died in the 1st world war, but before that i'm not sure where he went to either! |

Julie Soundex is Surnames that sound similar to that you typed in..... Or if you have an unusual first name then leave the surname blank and put it approx birth yr. place....You may find them that way..... You will be surprised at the way some transcribers wrote names out......you have to be very open minded with birth yrs etc...they can change from census to census Lesley :~) |

Unless you have found him in the death indexes, I think it more likely he has been mistranscribed. I have probably about 60-70% of my relatives mistranscribed on 1901 - not including the ones I haven't managed to find yet! Examples: Charity Purvey is down as Chanty Purvey Fanny Louisa Purvey is down as Louisa Curvey Thomas Matthews is Thomas Maththews My Smoothy family are Lenorthy Mealing family recorded as Melins You can try looking for your chap using his first name, year and birthplace. nell |
