Find Ancestors

Looking for a Daniel Browning Born Sept 1931 in Camberwell London. Found his birth record info but cant find anything else Trying to find if he married or died soon after birth. Having difficulties with locating this information. Any help with be much appriciated. Thank you

you can look for free on Ancestry BMD beta index http://www.ancestry(.)co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Remove brackets some times later years 1/4's are mistranscribed find 1/4 that is ok click on it then click on year above then 1/4 missing then letter of name then go through images until you get to right page if page is missing you will have to go on 1837 site Jeanette

Have been trying to search on ancestry had no luck any idea's or help please someone.

Then one of the facts must be wrong - either the year, the qtr or the name. what was his mothers maiden name and when did they marry

His mothers maiden name was Pickett Daniel was born in 1931 in camberwell london ref 1d 967 cant seem to find any marriage or death entry for him. Not alot is coming up at all.

he could actually still be alive. and of course he may not have married

You may do better if you ask for an Electoral Roll look up in 2003 or 2004 to estblish if he may still be alive. 2005 is availble on the internet ... but it's a subscription site. Just google 2005 Electoral register. Elaine ;-)

Please say where exactly you have looked..........precisely which years have you trawled through on the bmd's on Ancestry. Reg

His death does not appear in England & Wales in the period 1984-2002 Reg

If he was still alive today he would be 75 or almost. Will try and find some info on the electrol roll. its a mystery.

what is mysterious about it? the only thing you seem to know for sure is where and when he was born! what else do you know that makes it mysterious?

well i would of thought he married and i mean by a mystery as i cant find anything on him at all. He is my nans brother and she never even knew he exsisted and he prob doesnt know she does and the other 4 siblings. Thats why we think its strange.

Is he older than your Nan ? If so, then by how many years ? Could he have been 'adopted' by other family members and had his name changed. If not, then yes, consider he died before she was 4 or 5 years old. Elaine ;-)

He didn't died between Sept 1931 (when he was born) and Spet 1933... I've checked all them. There is this entry which may be worth elliminating ... John D Browning: Dec 1932 Battersea 1d. Maybe someone registered his death who didn't have the full facts. Maybe he died before his 1st birthday but wasn't registered until a week or so later (taking him into the dec qtr.) Something else for you to consider: Have you accounted for every brother that your Nan knew about. Is there any chance at all that Daniel was actually known by another name whilst growing up ??? eg, My Grandad was always known as Jim - we presumed his name was James - turns out he was Douglas ..... well because my nans birth was never registered i cant be sure of her birth date they said in the childrens homes she was placed in she was born aug 1925 theres no record of this and all her siblings are registered. Daniel is the youngest born 1931 in camberwell there mother died 1933 the other children were in the home before daniel was born and none knew of him or that he exsisted. My nan is still with us today so i get much info from her and the eldist sister and she never new of Daniel. Because the mum Kate died in 1933 we dont know what happened to Daniel or there Father whom was George Richard Browning born 1897. I cant find records of the father remarring or a death as yet i have been searching through ancestry and FamilyRelatives.org and theres nothing in FamilyRelatives and not as yet on ancestry. It is possible Daniel was adopted and i am awaiting there mothers death record as we are not sure what she died off. Every child was registered of Kate's except my nan which is unusal to me. There was another sibling florence whom died a year after birth and even she was registered. I am unsure where else i can search for info. This is important to my nan as she knows nothing about her past which is why i am studying it. Thanks

Sounds to me, that because Mum died 2 years after Daniel was born, thats its possible he was taken in by family. My Grandfathers brother had the same .....all the siblings were in a orphanage - but Wallace went to live with an Aunt. I spent £100's on 1837online looking for his death, every qtr, every year 1906 - 2000 .. not a trace. Last year I was told he had changed his surname to that of his Aunt and died as Wallace Bentley........ I found his death that day. Seems strange to me, that Daniel didn't end up in a 'home' along with all the other children..... maybe he did, but under entirely the wrong name ? With regards to your Nan not being registered ..... maybe she was - but not when you expected and possibly under an entirely different name to what she thinks her name is .I've known this before as well .... (sorry - comes with experience !!). Apart from the names you know about and those you have found for Births, you should check EVERY entry +/- 10yrs under that surname and look for the Mothers Maiden Name. You may find one that you hadn't been looking for ..... Elaine ;-)
