PM from Carol Tried durhamrecordsonline but no joy. At least that answers the question of which Easington we're looking at.

hi you said ellen was born 1824 and thomas 1818 on 1861 cencus ,i have them as ellen 1834 and thomas 1828 on 1861 do you think these are the same people , bit of a muddle carol

Carol - those details I gave were for 1861 - are you saying that you have them precisely 10 years younger elsewhere on the 1861? If so, please post the details. Where did I get the husband's name from for the Eleanor Liddle marriage - durhamrecordsonline !!!!! Unless you have some other reason to think that Thomas Lovett has suddenly become (or was) Thomas Spooner, then it's absolutely no match at all.

you think ancestry .coms records would be right in 1861saying he was born 1818 he says he was born newcastle all other cencus after that he says born Felling very confusing Carol

Carol - literacy and numeracy wasn't everyone's strong point. Some people genuinely didn't know exactly when they were born (or where).Thomas isn't particularly good at knowing his age. Ellen (or Helen or Eleanor) can't decide what her christian name is or how old she is. Also the enumerator wrote down what he was told. There's nothing wrong with a pob as Newcastle and a pob of Felling - they're close enough to each other. If family members across the various census are the same but ages are out (especially by exactly 10 years) I wouldn't worry. Genealogy isn't a precise science !!!!
