Find Ancestors

hi,i am trying to locate a james henry carr born keighley west yorks,i have his marriage cert which states he was he was 24,the marriage took place on 16/12/1907,working this out he should have been born around 1883,i can not see anything on him on ancestry,except 1 that was born 1880 in keighley,this carnt be him surly. i have looked through all the certs i have for the carr side and dont have any for the years before him only after.could anybody take a look see if i have missed it.thanks tracey..

reg, i know he was born keighley,because i went to visit my nan on sat,she gave me all my grandads research,and 17 copies of certs originals, unfortunatly,my grandad started researching more on his mothers side than his fathers. all of the carr family came from keighley,according to my nan. jess, i do not have his fathers name,on the marriage cert there is a black line that runs through the fathers name and occ. the point of this search was to try and locate him so i can order the birth cert. i am in the process of trying to eliminate the mother through all the certs i have. would not like to post her yet incase i post the wrong one.. tracey

i know hw was born keighley, like i said my nan and others know this and have told me, all the certs i have state keighley aswell, reg, thanks the halifax thing,all my mums side came from halifax, all my dads side came from keighley. i knew my grandad and greatgrandad,and also remember many stories they used to tell,and they always referred to keighley,ans silsden(silsden is in keighley) also haworth which is also classed as keighley. i will keep looking thanks tracey

Do you have his mothers maiden name?

This is the ONLY James Carr birth registered in the GRO index in Keighley between 1875 and 1890. Carr James Henry Keighley.9a 195 Birth 4 1879 I have found that ages on marriage certs can be a few years out. Liz

There is a James H Carr aged 8 living with his Grandfather, Aunt, mother etc in Idle, Bradford. Any good?

I'm totally confused now.................you say in your original request that you can't find the birth......then, later, you say you have all the certs...........I'm sorry, but which statement is accurate? Reg

thanks to all. reg,i said i cannot see him on the census. also said i have lots of original certs that have just been passed to me, one of them is his marriage cert,to a florence ireland,there is ref on there of her father, but as i said to jess,there is a black line straight through the fathers name and occ of james father, i also said that he was down as 24yr old on the cert,the date of the wedding was 16/12/1907.so this would make his yr of birth around 1883. the rest of the certs dont help,i have his sons certs(marriage,birth,divorce)and then his sons certs(marriage,birth) the rest of them are to do with henrys wife, i also said that was trying to find him on the census so i could confirm his birth year to send for birth cert,and also find any more rellies of his. hope this clears it all up. tracey

What makes you state that he was born in Keighley? If you haven't got his birth cert, and you can't find him on a census, you have no way of knowing where he was born. Reg

The fact that his fathers name was crossed thru on his marriage cert suggests he was illigitimate. it also suggests to me that his mother may have raised him in a name into which SHE married, and thru his childhood , may well have been under a different name.or that he was born with a diferent one, and raised as Carr what do you know about his mother?? hi jess, i know sweet nothing about his mother, i thought i had a birth cert of hers turned out to be the cert of his wifes mother, another dead end!!!! with regards to your theory,i have no way of proving that until i can find his birth cert,like i said earlier the only details i have with this chap, is his marriage cert,his sons birth,divorce,marriage cert. and then his sons birth and marriage cert, the rest of them are to do with the wifes family of james henry. tracey
