from the records and replies that i have received so far, the 1881 census shows the correct family at that time as follows: charles ashmore head: age 50 born worksop nottingham butcher. mary a ashmore wife age 52 born kings lynn norfolk charles ashmore age 18 born sheffield yorks piano player..... this is my great grandfather william ashmore age 11 born sheffield yorks scholar this i know is definitely my bloodline, beyond this it is uncertain

If tyou think the 1851 census is the one you are after - Charles Ashmore abt 1832 Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England Son Worksop Nottinghamshire Maria Ashmore abt 1796 Whitwell, Dublin, Ireland Sister Worksop Nottinghamshire William Ashmore abt 1800 Whitwell, Dublin, Ireland Head Worksop Nottinghamshire .... then I don´t really know what to advise next as I know nothing about Irish ancestry - maybe someone else can help you on this. Sorry

pm received from Peter hi again elaine, yes al these records are correct so far, they are my definite ancestors, but i can't seem to go any further back than hese records thanks peter and hi elaine this info seems to tie in, i know that both generations of charles ashmore were butchers and it seems logical that they were following the same trade. peter
