Hi Does he know his grandparents names? Or his fathers Siblings? If he had older siblings you might be able to find them on 1901 census.... Lesley :~) |

The first thing I would suggest is that you check the homepage of GR, where there is a link to tips to get you started. There are also threads on the tips board for newbies, which will probably give you an idea of what to do. If he can't give names to enable you to find anyone on the 1901 census, then the first thing you will need to do is get his father's birth certificate, which will give the parents names, including mother's maiden name. As for looking for people after 1901, get either a subscription to 1837 Online (if they still have the year's worth of searches) or Ancestry, then start trawling through all the images. It is slow and expensive... make sure he pays! good luck, Carole |

There's a Joyce R Mills last quarter of 1924 mum's maiden name Jacobs registered at Portsmouth but I couldn't see Cecil in 1924. I think you'll need to trawl the beta bmd on Ancestry to find them. Heather |

I've looked at births from 1901 to 1906 and there isn't a birth for Albert Abel Mills. Where have you got the birth year from? Kath. x |

2 x Cecil Mills born in 1924 - 1 in Birmingham & 1 in Wandsworth, sure you've got the year right? Was Rosina your BIL's mother?? Not sure if I'm understanding you? If so, he should know her maiden name, it'll be on his birth cert Sam |
