Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find my great grandad. All i know is that he was born around 1902 but my dad not sure if it was hartlepool or darilngton as my he had family in both towns. He was married to a Charlottle Theadkell and had one child Norman Fredrick Hill who was born in darlington in 1923. My great grand died when my dad was 15 in 1963 in middlesborgh i know that he was a boiler maker. I dont what his paernts were called there is know around to as now. sarah

think you are going to need the marriage cert first with such a common name! then we'll do better with his fathers name and occupation

Do you know his birth date at all? There are 4 possibles in the right time-frame.

This is the reference for the marriage certificate:- Charlotte Threadkell, spouse Hill, Sept. qtr. 1923, Darlington, 10a, 79 If you buy the certificate you will have both their father's names and occupations to help with finding them on the 1901 census. It will also give you his age (might not be exact) but will give you an idea of what year to start looking for his birth. Kath. x

I can't find a Thomas William Hill born in Hartlepool or Darlington in either 1901 or 1902. Just because he was brought up in Hartlepool, doesn't mean he was born here. I was born in Hartlepool myself and when I was looking for my grandad's birth, I assumed he was born in Hartlepool as that's where he lived from being young and it's what he put in his army records, but when I found his birth, he was actually born in London. The only real likely one, is this... Birth Sep 1902 Hill Thomas William Middlesbrough.9d 626 However, he may have been from London. You can't know for sure unless you asked him.

It would still be better to order the marriage certificate first, then when you order the birth certificate you will have the father's name to give as a checking point, so that you don't get the wrong birth certificate. Kath. x

The one born in middlesborough is apparent on the 1901 census.
