Hi All, Many thanks for all your help. I am wondering however if anyone could help me identify John Henry Stevens (1827) parents? I am finding the census records v confusing. In the 1871 census I found John Stevens living as a widower with his father David Stevens (c1800). I traced David Stevens back through the censuses and found him in the following ways: 1841 - living with brother Henry 1851 - living with wife Elizabeth (c1803) & neice Fanny Chandler 1861 - living with wife Elizabeth The question is - is Elizabeth, John's mothe?. The reason I ask is in the 1841 census (see results above from Lew Lew) hn Jowas living with Fanny Chandler (who later lived with David - John's father) and an older lady called Mary Stevens (c1806). Is Mary his mother? Who perhaps later died and then David remarried? Please help - its slowly driving me mad!!!! Thanks so much Helen

Is anyone able to provide any advice for this? Why do some people seem to disappear from censuses? What can you do to find them if they are not on the census? Thanks

Hi Helen this is way off course and sorry about that....but the family name 'Urie' is really strong in a small town right outside of were my family all immigrated to. Did you have any family memebers move to Ontario Canada? like I said a little off track but thought I would ask just incase. Bev
