hiya ann try and see if you can get death cert, this should verify if her name was mary clara or vise versa, would also give an idea as to her dob, then you'd have something more to go on. julie |

Can't see any sign on the IGI of the birth info you mention................perhaps it has been removed by the LDS Reg |

Thanks Heather, census definitely say Somerset and the IGI has her brother John Martin Tamblyn born Somerset as well. But the interesting thing is that her parents Mary Tregellas and Willia Tamblyn were married at St Agnes Cornwall in 1855, so it is possible she was born Cornwall and maybe moved to Somerset later. If only there was a Mary Clara in that list it would solve the mystery!! And sorry, hadn't realised I could search the BMD without being a member, wouldn't like you to think i was being lazy. i will have a go tomorrow. Ann Glos |

At least you can either think the unamed girl may be yours or as you now know you can access the full bmd index on ancestry without being a member, you can at least discount those years. Why arent you an ancestry member - I cant see how anyone can manage without it! |

So she was born about 1867? Have you looked a year or so either side of this on the ancestry full bmd index - not just free bmd, which isnt complete? Ive had a quick look on familyrelatives and there is no Clara from 1866 - 1870 (though I guess she may be younger). There was however a 'Female' Tamblyn born 1867 St Columb, 5c 119 - I believe thats Cornwall isnt it? Doesnt the mother have a cornish name? Ill just nip back and copy the Marys on there. |

My Husband's Gt grandmother, on her wedding certificate to Isaac Masters Apr 1885 is Clara Tamblyn age 18. On her daughter Kate's birth cert Jul 1885 she is Clara masters formerly Tamblyn. On the 1891 she is Clara masters age 25 born Somersetshire. The IGI gives her date of birth as 16 Apr 1868 St Brenden Hill Summerset...Wales(submitted after 1991 by a member of LDS so not reliable). Parents William H Tamblyn and Mary Tregellas. In the 1901 Isaac's wife is Mary Masters age 33 born Somerset. I am assuming that Clara and Mary are one and the same (Clara Mary or Mary Clara) as Clara didn't die until she was quite elderly as I have a photo of her and we have made contact with a second cousin of my husband who knows she was elderly when she died. My problem is that I cannot find a birth for her so far. there is one Mary Tamblyn on Free BMD but the dates don't tally. Has anyone any bright ideas to narrow down the search please? Ann Glos |
