Find Ancestors

can some one please help here i have BIRTH SAMUEL BOWER born 14/09/1899 59 casssidy road fulham mother AMY BOWER formerly JONES father WILLIAM BOWER MARRIDGE samuel bower eliza pretoria havell both 19 and both living at 109 cassidy road fulham on marridge cert,samuel is down as PRIVATE ROYAL FUSILIER number 255 265 in 1901 samuel is living at 15 lodge avenue, fulham with EMMA ROGERS and is down as nieces child but no nieces is in the house, i know he was brought up by emma and was known as samuel bower-rogers, but later dropped the rogers.on the marridge cert its witnessed by MISS R HIGGINS & G H ROGERS, with so much info here it all seems dead ends im tryin to trace samuels father william, he is not on any census that i can see,i cant find any matching army records,i cant find a marridge cert, where do i look? how does rogers fit in this?seems odd that he is living with a rogers and there is a rogers as witness, can anyone help unscramble this please??

I think he was a nurse child. Emma Rogers was a nurse. Image says N child. Heather

I think this lady was taking care of the children. Robert was only 4 months old. Have you looked for their parents? Heather

i have samuels father as william his mother as amy formerly jones neither of them come up anywhere, amy doesnt come up as amy bower or amy jones,wito rob being only 4 months old surley she cant be that far from him???its samuels parents im looking for,each answer seems to bring harder question here , thanks for this :)

I can't see a death for Amy, I was thinking that if she had died the children would need someone to care for them.. Can't see a marriage either. Heather

HAHAHA. thank you, i know im not mad, i cannot find anything at all on either of them, would you now how i can trace a service number that seems to be the only other lead i havent followed, the family story is something was taboo so was even wondering if the father, was wealthy or was married before and she may have been servant? but again no bower with a servant,cant see why she isnt on census,cant think of any other reason why or whre she would be can you, im willing to go with any ideas and rule out all? thanks for help here

hi cat, welcome aboard, if it was illegitimate then how comes he got a brother so close in age? where is she on census? emma may have took him for payment but wouldnt she be close to hand, i,e working in area its only 4 months after rob was born,have searched both maiden and married name, i know some certs lie do you rekon birth cert is wrong, as states mother was formerly jones, maybe she wasnt married but again would she be near, if not where and how does emma rogers fit in, is it family as there is a rogers as witness on sams marridge cert??

In 1901 Emma Rogers' birthplace is Somerset In 1891 there is an Emma Rogers birthplace Taunton Somerset living in Fulham with sons Charles M and George H so this son George H Rogers is probably the marriage witness. Heather

thanks heather, your going down same lines as me but if i remember right i cant find her, emma that is on census before that, not sure which one im looking at, as place of birth changes,from there i started to look for a marridge as emma has no husband either there does she sorry if im confusing you, and like me your now looking at another family all together, ie, where and who is emma hahaha, ohh the dead have alot to answer for lol thanks for helping here heather, even if i have confused you even more,xxx:):)

1881 Charles was visiting Elizabeth Goss from Somerset who was living in Cobham Heather

thanks heather think i may send for that death cert,have been away looking for charles but cant see him so am looking for emma rogers now, have you seen charles in 1881,heather do you know if and how i can find cassidy road fulham was thinking, they were at 59 cassidy road in 1899 and married from 109 cassidy in 1919, if i could view it in 1901 it may give us some more but cant find the road on census,what do you think ,??hah your too fast for me heather, im back to emma again that name and charles doesnt ring any bells, but am making notes as we go, hope im not keeping you up with all this.xx

the only emma i got from somerset in 1881 has henry as husband, but nothing else can be tied in,they living in worle somerset, u think its same one how am i going to tie this now, as all other kids that are there arent there later, see what i mean more questions

YES YES YES well sort of, charles was visiting a goss wasnt he??? so has to be same couple,its not the ones i was looking at in 1881, but it doesnt connect us with sam no, but has given us anothe name to go on, i,e goss maybe amy was a goss or working with a goss, died as a goss or even married a goss now i am getting carried away lol,thanks heather your brill and very quick lol

Kim You can do an address search on the 1901 site...or at least you used to be able to... I'm afraid my knowledge of London is zilch. Perhaps if you ask on another thread someone might know how to find it on Ancestry.
