This seems to be the same chap in 1901: Walton on the Hill Lancashire Mary A Vaile abt 1836 Westbury, Gloucestershire, Head Maurice Vaile abt 1857 Westbury on Severn, Gloucestershire, Stepson Dora Vaile abt 1877 Westbury, Gloucestershire, Daughter He's single and I can't make out his occupation. He's 44, but when people say that someone died young, they might just mean they didn't live to a ripe old age. can't see him in 1891, perhaps he was at sea.

Well Joanie I wouldn't dismiss the 1901 Maurice He is a stepson to a Mary Vaile and there is also a Dora Vaile all born in Gloucs. and living in Liverpool

Marriage: Maurice Martin Vaile Year of Registration: 1880 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Portsea Island (1837-1900) County: Hampshire Volume: 2b Page: 783 Bride is one of these ladies: Hannah Boulter Fanny Morris

This MIGHT be his wife in 1881 whilst he is on board ship: Fanny Vaile abt 1857 Lancaster, Lancashire, Boarder Portsea Hampshire She (and virtually all the other women on the page) are described as 'seaman's wife' Its in the same area as the marriage - a port, where you'd expect a sailor's wife to be, and she's the same age as Maurice. She was also born in the same county as Maurice is living in 1901.
