It may mean illegitimacy, i did have a quick look for the mother but i only found a ann Cheyney christened 19 april 1834 at the same place. Parents Samuel and Esther

Thanks Mark - forgot to look on the IGI site! Have found her there too now. No father mentioned - does that mean illigitimacy or may the record just not be there?

All it says, is that her Mother was called Anne.

I think that's her Mark. I have her down as being born in Little Harrowden.

A wise word of caution.......The Lizzie Lewin in Barrow is a different one, but the Lizzie Lewis isn't my Lizzie either. She may be the one on the birth record...

I'm guessing Lizzie Lewin has been mistranscribed. Ellen is down as Ellen Cheney on her marriage. Don't really know what it could be mistranscribed as.

Not sure of Ellen's birth year, but that is the census estimate. Her name on her son's birth certificate is Ellen Elizabeth Muggleston formerly Cheney.

Was Ellen definatly born in 1857 and did she have any other names.Also remember the lizzie i found had the surname lewis.

Fairly confident it's Lizzie - it's Lizzie on her marriage details and all census information.

Hi. I'm trying to find the reference numbers to order 2 birth certificates and am not having any joy. They are Ellen Cheney born, I believe around 1857 in Northamptonshire and Lizzie Lewin born around 1873 in Leicestershire. Thanks. Mike.
