Hmm. These relatives are tricky whatsits!! I take it this is James' death: Have you traced him back to see you spot any other connections? Who's living next door etc? Name: James Higginbottom Birth Date: abt 1822 Year of Registration: 1891 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun Age at death: 69 District: Chesterfield County: Derbyshire Volume: 7b Page: 525 1891: James Higginbottom abt 1822 Brampton, Derbyshire, England Father-in-law Brampton Ann Erefred abt 1847 Brampton, Derbyshire, England Wife Brampton Florence Erefred abt 1875 Brampton, Derbyshire, England Daughter Brampton Jemina Erefred abt 1870 Harland, Derbyshire, England Daughter Brampton Joseph Erefred abt 1844 Scotland Head Brampton Laura Erefred abt 1885 Brampton, Derbyshire, England Daughter Brampton Address Church Street? Hi Margaret, Good to see you,. Thanks for the info on Ann Carter/Glossop. Christine,/Margaret. This has now got me soooo confused,Can I run it past you to see what you think please. I recieved my grt grandad's Death cert this AM and it says James Higginbottom died 11th June 1891 at 12 Chester Street age 69.Informant is S Lee, niece address is ***forth Street,Newbold, Sarah registered his death on the 12th June 1891. So I looked on 1881 census ----- IGI/Mormon Site to try and find who Sarah married but she was a Widow.I thought with her being his niece it could be his sisters daughter but her year of birth is too early. James wasn't born until 1822 and his eldest brother William born about 1817. Sorry just can't get my head round this one. Think I will have to go to Matlock RO for more info Thanks Your all Stars Sue

The 1841 found by Mags and Nicky could well be Ann. Occupation of Frederick Carter is druggist Still can't see Sarah (Glossop/Carter - whatever!)

Christine

Christine Report 9 Jun 2006 20:53

1841 There is this James Glossop - different wife, but - he could have remarried. Neither born in Derbyshire. Charlotte Glossop abt 1776 Chesterfield Derbyshire >>James Glossop abt 1781 Chesterfield Derbyshire I think against his occupation it says 'Army P' Found this on IGI - nothing to say it is the right one though. Father is listed as Thomas SARAH CARTER Christening: 17 SEP 1828 Chesterfield, Derby, England Parents: Father: THOMAS CARTER Mother: ANNE Messages: Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record

Hi Sue! I dont know if this is linked to the Frederick Carter you have above, but strangely there is an Ann born 1803! 1841 Ann Carter abt 1803 Derbyshire, England Chesterfield Derbyshire Frederick Carter abt 1811 Derbyshire, England Chesterfield Derbyshire Henry Carter abt 1826 Derbyshire, England Chesterfield Derbyshire Sarah Carter abt 1816 Derbyshire, England Chesterfield Derbyshire Thomas Carter abt 1824 Derbyshire, England Chesterfield Derbyshire She should have been a Glossop in 1841. Perhaps not the right family. I can't seem to find Sarah yet! Just wondering with the age gap if Ann is actually James' 2nd wife, and didn't marry until after 1841? I can't find the Ann Carter or Frederick Carter in 1851, other than the Fred you have listed already. It certainly looks like the same person.

Christine

Christine Report 9 Jun 2006 19:40

You're welcome - annoyingly I can't see her in 1851, either with husband or single.

FC and Mark. Thanks for that info on Sarah Lee, if you don't mind me asking was there an address showing for Sarah Please. Sarah was present when my grt gandad died and the death cert gives an address different from the address where he died and also gives her name with niece. Just can't understand why his niece was present at his death and registered his death when he was widowed and living with his daughter and family. Thanks Sue
