Well, it could be that Mary Ann was born a Mitchell but it seems a bit unlikely given that she was born in Paddington, London and Elam was born in Yeovil, Somerset. Still, could be. Kate.

Okay, this is the head of household in 1861, a fish dealer (as is Edwin): Elam Mitchell abt 1825 Yeovil Summersit Head Warwick St Nicholas Warwickshire Name really does look like Elam. He is unmarried. Not quite sure how Edwin and Mary Ann come to be his brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Could be that he is a step-brother to one of them? There is nobody else in the household except the 3 of them. Kate.

Hiya Sinead, remember me? Well, this must be them in 1861, in England: Edwin Salvage abt 1811 Bristol Brother-in-law Warwick St Nicholas Warwickshire View Record Mary Ann Salvage abt 1810 Paddington Sister-in-law Warwick St Nicholas Warwickshire Back in a minute when I've figured out which head of household they belong to! Kate.

Hi all, Here is my problem!Edwin Salvidge, born 1803 Somerset, marrie Mary Ann ? born 1804 Middlesex,London. Their daughter Caroline ,1829,Bedminster,marries Samuel Barber in 1849 in Bristol when both parents are still living. The only trace I can find of either parents is 1871 Wales Census where Edwin and Mary Ann Salvidge are living in St. Woollos,Monmouthshire where they die in 1878 (birth given there at about 1813) They appear in no other census in england or Wales from 1841,51 +61.So where do I go from here please? Thanks, Sinead xxx

Hmmmm, this could be Mary Ann in 1851, but no sign of Caroline! Mary A Turner abt 1811 London, Middlesex, England Visitor Dudley Worcestershire She is a widow, a dressmaker visiting the Lacy family. DUR, I just realised you said Caroline got married in 1849. Wait a minute, does none of the stuff I have found make any sense, then? If both her parents were still living in 1849, er, who were they? I have got completely confused now and I think I will have to take a break from this until you come back and sort it out, Sinead. Surely that Edwin Salvidge marrying Mary Ann Turner has to be yours? Now, wait a minute, I did find another Edwin Salvidge marriage in 1849 which I ignored because there wasn't a Mary Ann: Marriages Dec 1849 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ashwood Jane Wolverhampton 17 421 Hazeldine Eliza Wolverhampton 17 421 Hickin Lousia Wolstanton 17 421 Lovitt Harriett Bridget Wolverhampton 17 421 Parker John Wolverhampton 17 421 Salvidge Edwin Wolverhampton 17 421 Smith Martha Wolverhampton 17 421 Thompson Joseph Wolverhampton 17 421 Williams Joseph Wolverhampton 17 421 I'm afraid my brain has got so addled with this that I can't even work out what local BMD site Wolverhampton should be on to see if I can figure out who he married. But anyway, I shall have to post this up so I can reread what you said at the beginning and try and work out whether any of these people are connected with Caroline at all!! Kate
