Joyce - with a bit of luck, if we find one then we find the other. Nothing like a good challenge. Has anyone found her birth? Jools |

OK - bear with me on this one as I'm thinking on paper!! Loopy Lesley posted abut an Ada born Lincolnshire 1869 who was living with grandparents in Salford. The head of that household was William born Hepworth in Lincs. I looked for Louisa on the 1861 and found this Living at Carrhouse in Belton, Lincs (which is part of Epworth registration district) rg9/3523/61/7 On his own is John BASSINDALE head widow 68 farmer of 7 acres born Butterwick, Lincs. Further down the page is (in the household of a Robert RIGBY age 44 born Churbend, lancashire who says he's married but there's no wie to be seen) Ann BASSINDALE servant single 28 housekeeper born Belton, Lincs with Louisa (no relationship) age 4 born Belton and John (no relationship) age is months, possibly 9. This Ann BASSINDALE (mistranscribed as Bassinale) is still in lincs in 1871 rg10/4725/63/3 & is still in Robert Rigby's household (though he now says he is age 58 and was born Wiggin, lancs - presumably Wigan). Ann BASSINDALE single 37 housekeeper born belton Louisa daughter 14 house assistant born belton John Robert son 10 scholar born Belton William son 7 scholar born belton Elizabeth daughter 5 born belton Herbert son 2 born belton Clara daughter 5 months born belton There were 3 ann bassindales born in belton arund 1833, and one of them is the one above. I'm thinking that her father (john) and william were brothers and there are people on the 1841 belton who could fit. Anybody any thoughts plese? |

I know Joyce isn't actively seeking Ada at the moment - we tried every which way but diagonally to find her, spent ages and ages ( i mean weeks!) trying to track her down. I think we decided that one with grandparents WAS probably her but....... I'll take my hat off to anyone that does manage to locate her |
