Hi Note slight difference in surname spellings.... There is only 1 Ada ( Bassindale ) in 1871 b:1865 Wroot Lincs...Living in Notts.....BUT her father is ROBERT... There is an ADA ( Bassendale ) b:1869 Hepworth Lins in 1871 but she living with Grandparents in Salford..there are also 2 sisters with this Ada named Elizabeth b:1863 & Louisa b:1860 On her marriage cert does it say John's occupation please? Lesley :~)

Is she the one who married JAS 1893 in W. Derby to Thomas Hampson or Samuel Mellor? If so, was her father shown as alive on the MC and what was his occupation?

She wasn't living at 92 Olivia St, Bootle on the 1891. John & Emma Henderson were. rg12/2970/97/58 It's also equally clear there there's no birth for an ada mary bas(s)in(g)dale between JFM 1869 and JFM 1871 as I've just checked the images.

ARrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh Ada Bassindale - the stuff nightmares are made of!! I believe we came to the conclusion that she must have been born Lincs, despite saying Manchester. Her son , whose name escapes me for a mo- it was imprinted on my brain for a while - has an 'unaccounted for' middle name - just remembered it -Joseph RATHBONE mellor

Echoing Jess - AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH It would have helped if I could have found a birth for her - but no. No John on 81 as a victualler, publican or anything else vaguely beery. Must go & get something for tea - himself requires feeding at 5pm prior to doing a night shift. Back later. UPDATE - Jess - perhaps she said Manchester because she thought she was - it's that one someone found on the 1871 with her at grandparents in Salford somewhere higher up the thread (I think the head was a william from Lincolnshire) Gone.
