Yes that's her in 1871. I have her on all censuses except 1861. John is posing a problem as his marriage cert doesn't list his age or father's name/occupation. Hannah's father is on it so I assume that John might have been illegitimate, or maybe his father was dead. So, the problem is I can't trace John's death either. His daughter Annie was born in September 1869, so between January 1869 and 1871 I can't find a death cert for him. Unless he died at sea...all very frustrating!

My goodness - you are quick off the mark!!! Thank you, it could be her - she should have been 22 as she was born July 1838. I've seen plenty of variations on the word Chideock! It is pronounced Chid-dock, so with a Dorset accent it explains the spelling mistakes!!

Cheeky request here - does anyone have the 1861 on disc or access to Ancestry.com? I am searching for: Hannah ABBOTT, born 1838 in Chideock, Dorset. On 192.com there is one aged 21 registered as living in Yeovil and born in Dorset, that might be a possibility. John FARWELL, a seaman/sailor, 'probably' born in Dorset - I've no idea about age (in 1863 he got married to Hannah and it said 'full age' on the certificate, which means 21 or over). On 192.com there are 21 Johns listed! Five of these were born in Dorset, of which one is too old, another too young, leaving three aged 60, 30 and 19. It would be great if you could look all three up for me. If you can give me the household details I would be really grateful. A bit big thank you for anyone able to help me. Jane
