just realised on the 1871 census,it as john down as being born in belper,so why cant i find him????

dont have the marriage cert,but i did know john father was samuel,im hoping to get the birth cert

john was my grandmothers father,as my grandma wasnt born till 1908 i cant check the census to see if im a link with the girl im intouch with,it looks like we are but not 100% just yet

As the family moved from Dudley, and one of the refs that Sam found was from Dudley, that's more likely to be the one you want. Why does your link say that only Edward (the 2nd child) was born in Dudley, whilst the 1st & 3rd were in Belper? Helen

from what i know for sure is that he was a wire drawer,married a ellen hartstone...belper is in derbyshire im in touch with somebody who could be a link,below is what she told me.... john clamp had a brother edward born1866 dudley,john was the eldest brother,there parents were samuel and ann,samuel lived in dudley(born staffordshire),moved over to belper for the wire industry (was a miner)she says edward for some reason was the only child born in dudley
