Have you got him on 1841 or 1851 census? If his wife wasn't born until 1832 then he should be single on 1841 and probably would have his kids with him in 1851 or 1861. Sam x

You wont find any certs because this was before civil registration started. Best place to start looking is the IGI. OC

Can anyone help with this little mystery please? I have a John Spooner on my tree b1809 in Steeple Essex. He married a Susan b1832 in Barlow Essex. I cant find a trace of their children or anything to do with his early years,ie a birth certificate or marriage certificate. I have contacted other people who have relatives with surname Spooner from around the same time in Steeple but no-one has heard of my John!!! Total mystery... Thanks. Emma
