The 1891 census is bit confusing, as Jim explained. Mary A is listed as daur, with age 50........the age has been re-written alongside as 10..........well, the dau mary was born 1871, so it isn't her! I would think it's the wife, and the enumerator had a 'senior moment' Reg

Looking at 1891, I would say the name is Veretta..second initial is 'A'. Reg

So the 1878 marriage is his.......... Just a case of discovering which Mary Ann was his bride............. And that puts the earlier marriage back in the frame Reg

Thomas A Gill is DEFINITELY Thomas ANDREW Gill, as I have one of his daughter's marriage certs...

Jim in the 1891 you say there is a Joretta Gill. If you can see the image is it a Loretta or a Veretta? It's just that Mary Ann Gill's marriage in 1900 was witnessed by a Annie Veretta Gill, and I've no idea who she is.

As Thomas makes a point of including his second initial on censuses, it is hardly likely that his marriage registration would not show it.............. Also, it was normal for the marriage to be in the bride's home parish.......... Reg

Just looked at image for 1891. Mary A is shown as daughter but age seems to be 50 and birthplace matches wife Mary. Thomas shows as Married - not widower. So this should be his wife. Wonder if transcriobers got muddeld and have left someone out. Jim
