OK, Found his death and birth. Birth was in the Sept qtr 1914 Thomas Poole mother's maiden name Fisher Hayfield 7b 1814 Rose

Right I have been on the phone to my dad and managed to get him to give me more information, although how reliable this is is another question... Thomas Poole Born.1914 24th May - Hayfield, Derbyshire Baptised.1921 14th August - ? Died. 1982 2nd April - Honiton, Devon I know little to nothing about his parents, which is what I'm looking for... I think his father may have been called Charles Henry or Henry Charles or something to that effect and his mother maybe Mary Alice...... Thank you :o)

I found henry thomas and was having a look to see where abouts barnstaple was in devon, but ruled it out as it is the wrong part of devon... it will have been Exeter/Honiton if I am right about it being Devon. The last one's death year is far too late at 2000. It will be either 83, 84, 85, 86 or 87 at the latest.

Thomas Poole died approx 1984-6 in the exeter/devon area (i hope) and would have been born around 1914 in the birmingham area...

Hmm I did happen to notice the no one with the surname poole was apparently born in 1914 anywhere in the UK, so that's what made me wonder as it is a pretty popular name... He died around 1984 - 1986 (I know it was after I was born, but i was still a baby...) UPDATE - can't find a thomas poole between 1911 and 1920. The closest i can find in the areas I am considering is 1909, which are the three I have already found and am considering. Maybe I'm missing something really obvious because I'm getting tired!

Elizabeth I dont think the War was accepted as an excuse for late registration, but who knows? Maybe his birthreg was delayed for some reason. OC

It has just dawned on me why I may be having problems with my grandfather - I have written in my notes 1914 as his birth date and well if he was born in 1914 is it possible he would have been registered a lot later due to the war?
