Have Mary Saville born 1913 in Sheffield Yorkshire and died in Sheffield in 1988. Only son I know of would be about 56years to 60 years ( no contact with him ) Wanting to find out Mary's husbands name - her married surname was Clarkson I never heard anyone in family speak about her husband, could have died in WW2 though Can anyone point me in the right direction please Thanks Joanne

hiya, right, you do have a lead, buy the sons birth cert, this will give mothers maiden name, but will also give fathers name and occupation, julie

Hi Don't know the son's exact DOB, do know where he lives so could phone him but I feel awkward as I know that I have never heard his father discussed in my 37 years and have often wondered if his fahter left them or died. I know that Mary Clarkson is buried alone ( maiden name Saville) as mos of my family are buried in the same cemetary, so she was married nut to whom and when and until when I do not know Joanne

You could buy her death certificate, it will give her husbands name and occupation and hopefully a relative reigistered the death, so that would be another lead.

Found this marriage for a Henry Clarkson to a Joan Saville. June Quarter 1946 in Skipton. Could this be the one? Know you said Mary but sometimes names change? Skipton is abt 50 miles out, but possible in war time I suppose. Janice

Since last post marriage I have checked channel 1837 which gives births, marriages & deaths from 1937 through till 2004 in England and Wales. Looked for Marriage of Mary Saville to Clarkson from 1928 - 1946. Only one and that is the one I gave to you. Went right back to 1928 just incase her birth date was out by a few years. So maybe the Joan married in Skipton is the one for you? If not then there is a problem somewhere that we do not know about? Get the birth certificate for the birth I gave you and go from there. Thanks Janice I have no bene told by a rellie that the father (Clarkson ) died when the son born in 46 was about 7 years old and that Mary never married again ( which I already knew ) I will carry on with the search as I think it highly unlikely that Mary was the Joan that you have, but never say never Thanks Joanne
