Scotland is great once you get going, their certificates give much more information than the English ones, especially death certs. |

I've looked at Scotland 1841.....nothing on there which fits the criteria. When did they die? No point in looking for them after that................. Reg |

Lorraine, did either or both of them die in Scotland? I am guessing not, but if they did (after 1855) then you will be able to get their death cert on Scotland's People and it will tell you the names of their parents. Assuming they didn't die in Scotland, then the first thing you will need to do is find their marriage. I would try on FamilySearch first if I were you, because it is free. If you don't find it on there, then try on Scotland's People. If you still don't find it, then with such common names, it is going to be tricky. Have you found them on all the censuses? And do the censuses just say 'Scotland' for birthplace? Websites: www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk www.familysearch.org Kate. |
