Hi Jillian I would try posting it on this board. You would be surprised how kind and helpful people are. People have looked up divorce details in The Times, probate records, etc etc. for me. Suggestion for the title is 'Kelly's Directory look ups for Edmonton please' Please let us know if you have any success. Maureen |

Hi Jillian I posted my previous message prior to reading your message above it so does all seem to tie in except for the fact that his father was down as Jack on his marriage certificate.Has the info that you have from g g g uncle Mick come from within the family ? You could try posting a request for someone who lives in the Edmonton area to look at Kelly's directories for 10 and 12 Hartington Rd between 1905 and 1925 to see who was listed at these addresses (you will only get the name of the head of the household) Maureen |

Well if the father on the birth cert was also a labourer its possible they are the same chap. But if he's an accountant, I'd say its unlikely. |

Do you know who the mother is on the cert - that might help find them on 1901 census if they were married then, and also to find their marriage. What is the father's occupation on the birth and marriage certs? nell |

Several possibilities. a) you have a birth cert and a marriage cert for two different Harold Goldsmiths. b) Its the same chap, but his father was known as Jack although his real name was something else. c) As the addresses are similar, either this family moved in the same road a bit (which happened quite a lot in my tree) OR the numbers changed but the house remained the same OR these two Harolds are different but probably related in some way. Maybe Jack and Charles Thomas were brothers or cousins? |

Which of the above two birth certificates does your cousin have? I would think you should order the one you haven't got giving Jack or John (which Jack is usually short for) as a checking point for the father's name. I can't imagine that on the death certificate your cousin has that the father's name is even mentioned (unless he outlived Harold and was the informant). Kath. x |

Hi Jillian If the marriage certificate is correct i.e Victoria was your grandmother then possibly you have the wrong birth certificate for Harold. What address is on Harold's birth certificate? How do you know that Charles Thomas was born in 1869? Maureen |
