If you look on Ancestry's index images, its the same pages as 1837online but FREE.

Looked on ancestry but could find nothing. I suppose next stop in 1837.

According to the census, the registration district including Lower Stondon is Ampthill, so I suppose you could go through the GRO marriage indexes looking at Gazeleys and cross checking with Mary Jacksons!

I looked for a male Gazeley in Bedfordshire born within 5 years of Mary, as a possible husband. There are only 2, James and Samuel, who are unmarried and living with the Gazeleys at the top of the page. Presumably Mr Gazeley, Mary's husband is not in Bedfordshire, or is a lot older/younger than her.

OK 1861 census details say that Mary is married. She is working as a straw plaiter. I see there's another lot of Gazeleys at the top of the same page who are probably connected.

Just saw the details on Diane's request for 1861 look up. Mary Gazeley is living with her parents John Jackson 62 born 1799 living Shillington. Bedfordshire. That is where Gazeley appears.Irene

Does the census say that she's married, unmarried or widowed?

On 1861 Mary is living with parents as Mary Gazeley,aged 31. Just assumed that was her married name.

Where did you get your reference to Mr Gazeley?

Can't find her on 1871 did find a death of a Mary Gazeley in that area in 1863 but don't know if it is her or not.

what does 1871 census say - the marriage isnt obvious which is 'she ' on 1861? Stondon is Luton-ish, isn't it?

I am trying to find the marriage of Mary Jackson and Mr Gazeley (sorry no first name). In 1861 Mary was living with her parents in Lower Stondon. Anyone could please give me Mr Gazeleys first name. Regards Diane
