Scotland census image help needed please

Hi Is anyone familiar with Midlothian and Haddington areas? I have downloaded a couple of images from Scotlandspeople and I can't read the place of birth. If I send you the image could you please try and let me know what it says after Midlothian and Haddington. Thanks Elaine |

He was born abt 1836 1837 (age 4 on 1841). Living in Newbattle Midlothian at the time with his parents Robert and Jean. His sister Mary was born 1838 Crichton His brother Robert was born 1841 Newbattle Family living in Barony 1851 census I've looked on Scotlands people but can't find John. Thanks Betty Other children I can't find births for are Charles abt 1834 and Barbara abt 1836. Can't find any of the family on 1861 or 1871 in Scotland (John,Charles and Robert Jnr were in England on 1861) I can find a possible marriage for his parents Robert Conquer and JANE Douglas in Ormiston on 1833 but I'm not sure |

No father is definately Robert (occupation Miller on his marriage cert) also his mothers maiden name is Douglas. This is a name that is carried down as a christian name throughout his family. John even decides to call him and his family by surname Douglas on England census and names his children Conquer (just to confuse me - the little devil!!) Elaine |

The first born - Charles was born Ormiston (I can now read this on 1851 census) But as for Barbara and my John - I don't have a clue what it says. Elaine |

Hi again Elaine, I have received both images and printed them off, I will see what I can find but obviously I can't do it all because I don't have Ancestry to look up those who were born or married in England. I will try my best with the others ok. Its late now but I will see what I can do. Is there anything you already know as I don't want to duplicate things you have already found. Betty |

Betty thankyou so much for your help. I have Robert, Jean and family on 1841 Scottish census from Ancestry (Newbattle). 1851 Family is in Barony (Scotlands people) 1861 No sign of parents or children in Scotland 1861 I have found John, Charles and Robert jnr in England. Charles married Christina Mclennan in Barony on 15/9/1854 and Barbara may have married Samuel Muir on 14/7/1854 in Glasgow (not sure about this one). Thanks Elaine |
